Join our Pilgrimage This Week to Year of Mercy Doors
On Saturday morning, October 29 - our collaborative is hosting a local pilgrimage for the Jubilee Year of Mercy to our Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. Families, other parishioners, and friends are all invited to join Fr. Joe as we prayerfully prepare for this opportunity to pass through the Holy Doors of Mercy, attend a Mass of Appreciation for Altar Servers from around the archdiocese, and get a tour of the mother church of all of our parishes - your cathedral. We will meet at St. Mary parking lot at 8:45am carpool or bus into the Cathedral and return between 2:00 - 3:00pm. Call St. Mary Wrentham at 508-384-3373 for more information.
Calling All Volunteers!
We're just like you. We're teachers, business executives, parents, retirees, students...you name it. But the one thing we all have in common is our desire to help. And the more volunteers we have, the bigger impact we can all make.
Where we can go and make a difference following Hurricane Matthew is North Carolina, South East area. We have scheduled a trip on short notice for Oct. 30th to Nov. 4th. If you can join us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost to you would be approximately, $670 plus your transportation. This cost is tax deductible. While we cannot assume the entire cost we do have scholarship money available to help.
The work will be varied and include the first steps of clearing out debris and damaged items.
Part-time Director of Music Ministry Position Open
We are seeking a part time Director of Music Ministries. This director is part of the Pastoral Team which serves the Plainville-Wrentham Catholic Collaborative, but the role is focused on providing and coordinating music ministries at St. Mary Parish (an average of 15-18 hours a week).
Successful applicants will have experience in a variety of styles of liturgical worship music, and bring an uplifting, prayerful spirit to this important ministry. An understanding of the role of music in Catholic liturgy is required; more extensive liturgical training a plus. Responsibilities include providing accompaniment and directing vocalists at weekend Masses (Sat 4:00; Sun 9:30, 12:00 and sometimes 5:00), holy days, and other sacramental celebrations; funerals & weddings offer additional stipends. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate proficiency in playing organ and/or piano; skills with directing our experienced parish cantors, an adult choir, and congregational singing; also fostering new vocalists and mentoring a new praise worship band. This position requires pastoral sensitivity and ability to collaborate well with clergy and lay ministers (adults and teens). The new director will help to select a new principal instrument for the church (electronic organ or piano) in the near future.
Please send resume and cover letter to the pastor, Fr. Joe Mozer, atas soon as possible.
